What Your Solicitor Helps to Protect Against
Personal tax advice has the most value before decisions are locked in — when reliefs can still be claimed and structures can still be changed.
Missed Reliefs
Paying more than required because Principal Private Residence, Entrepreneur Relief or other exemptions were never identified.
Incorrect Returns
Incomplete or inaccurate filings that trigger Revenue queries, penalties or unnecessary assessments.
Foreign Income Gaps
Undeclared overseas income or assets that create compliance exposure later.
Poor Transaction Timing
Selling, gifting or investing before understanding the tax cost — when the position can no longer be changed.
Unplanned Revenue Contact
Responding to Revenue without advice and making the position worse.
Fragmented Advice
Legal and tax advice from different advisers that leave gaps between the two.
Everything above is included in your fixed fee — agreed before any work begins, with no hidden costs and no billing surprises.

Meet Your Solicitor
Tamoor Barlas
Solicitor
I am a solicitor based in Dublin 15. Alongside my commercial practice, I advise individuals, families and businesses on Irish immigration pathways — from employment permits and residency through to family reunification and citizenship.
Relocation is more than a visa application. The people I advise are often making one of the most significant legal and financial decisions of their lives. I combine immigration counsel with tax and corporate insight so your move to Ireland is planned as a whole, not in isolated filings.
Because I practise as both a solicitor and a tax, I can advise on immigration status and the tax consequences of becoming Irish-resident in one engagement — reducing duplication and closing the gap between legal permission and financial planning.
“My job is to take the immigration and tax complexity off your hands — so you can focus on building your life in Ireland.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Not everyone is required to file a Form 11. If you have rental income, foreign income, capital gains, self-employment income or other non-PAYE income, you are generally required to file. We advise at the outset on whether you have a filing obligation.
CGT is calculated on the gain made on disposal of an asset — sale price less original cost and allowable expenses. The current rate is 33%. Important reliefs can significantly reduce or eliminate the liability. We advise on the full CGT position before you complete any transaction.
Capital Acquisitions Tax (CAT) applies at 33% above the relevant threshold. The threshold depends on the relationship between the parties. Various exemptions and reliefs apply, including the Small Gifts Exemption, agricultural relief and business relief.
You are tax resident if you spend 183 days or more in Ireland in a tax year, or 280 days across the current and previous year. Domicile is separate and affects liability on foreign income. We advise on your specific status.
Address the position proactively. A voluntary disclosure made before Revenue opens an audit typically results in significantly lower penalties. We quantify the liability and manage the disclosure with Revenue.
Income tax applies to income you receive. CGT applies to gains on disposal of capital assets. Rates and reliefs differ. A single transaction can give rise to both.
