Meet Your Solicitor

Tamoor Barlas

Solicitor

I am a solicitor based in Dublin 15. Alongside my commercial practice, I advise individuals, families and businesses on Irish immigration pathways — from employment permits and residency through to family reunification and citizenship.

Relocation is more than a visa application. The people I advise are often making one of the most significant legal and financial decisions of their lives. I combine immigration counsel with tax and corporate insight so your move to Ireland is planned as a whole, not in isolated filings.

Because I practise as both a solicitor and a tax, I can advise on immigration status and the tax consequences of becoming Irish-resident in one engagement — reducing duplication and closing the gap between legal permission and financial planning.

“My job is to take the immigration and tax complexity off your hands — so you can focus on building your life in Ireland.”

Frequently Asked Questions

A property solicitor manages the legal aspects of a property transaction — investigating title, reviewing and negotiating contracts, advising on searches and planning, managing the financial mechanics of a transaction (including stamp duty and registration) and ensuring the title passes correctly from seller to buyer.

A straightforward purchase or sale typically takes 6-10 weeks from sale agreed. Transactions involving new builds, complex titles or probate property can take significantly longer. We advise on the realistic timeline for your specific transaction at the outset.

Yes — and getting advice before you sign is the most important time to have it. Commercial leases are long-term, complex legal documents that can commit your business to significant financial obligations. Many of these terms are negotiable before signing but cannot be changed afterwards.

Residential property stamp duty is charged at 1% on the first €1 million and 2% above that. Commercial property stamp duty is charged at 7.5%. Various reliefs and exemptions apply — including consanguinity relief on transfers between close relatives.

Freehold ownership means you own the property and the land on which it stands outright, with no time limit on the ownership. Leasehold ownership means you own the right to occupy the property for the duration of a lease. We advise on the nature of the title being acquired and any issues arising from leasehold ownership.
